Music
Two popular, yet very different, styles of music in India are classical and Bollywood.
Classical Indian music can be instrumental and/or vocal. There are two genres of classical Indian music: Hindustani, which is associated with northern India, and Carnatic, which is associated with southern India. Instruments used in classical Indian music include the sitar, a guitar-like instrument, the tabla, a special type of hand-drum, the violin, and the flute. Below is an example of the Carnatic genre of classical music.
Bollywood is a term for Indian film. Bollywood films are usually musicals. The songs in Bollywood films are often very catchy and are accompanied by lively dance numbers. Below is a musical scene from the Bollywood film Kahbi Khushi Kabhi Ghum.
